So after dad's funeral on Monday August 1st, Steve, the girls and myself finally were able to depart on our family vacation that we postponed with dad's passing. I know that my dad would have still wanted us to go so we went despite all that was hitting us at home. Anyways, Monday evening we pulled into Boise for the night and got some grub. Savanna wanted to hit up the swimming pool so we ablidged and all took a dip in the refreshing water. Then it was off to bed because Saturday was going to be a long day in the car.
We woke up on Saturday and got some breakfast at the hotel before hitting the road to our favorite destination...Lacey Washington. Along the way we stopped at Multnomah Falls in Oregon and decided it was a great spot to stretch our legs. The last time we stopped there Savanna was Paige's age so it had been a while. The waterfall was beautiful and it was a nice break from the car, we even let the girls dip their piggies in the water as we were heading back to the car. Then it was off to Washington.
As we crossed the Columbia River into Washington Steve decided to play some John Denver song about being home. When people ask us if while we lived in Washington if we ever got home sick for Utah...not really, but we are both definately homesick for the Pacific Northwest. Anywho, we arrived at our good friends Todd and Christie Carlson's home around 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon. It took the girls just a few moments to warm up to the new faces that we would be staying with for the week. Savanna and Callie were good friends when we lived up here, so it was nice to see them get reaquainted. Maleah and Paige hit it off as well and the house wasn't the same for the rest of the trip.
Wednesday we took the girls along with Ashlyn Carlson, Savannah Hakes and Mayuko (the Carlson's foreign exchange student from Japan) to the Mariners baseball game. I could hardly wait to get my hands on the garlic fries at Safeco Field. I wasn't the only one to like them either, little miss Paige was eating the garlic by the handfulls. It was a beautiful day at the ball park and the Mariners won (they have never lost a game that we have attended).

So fun to read about and see the photos! Thanks for taking Savannah with you to the game! You are good luck for our poor Mariners. I think I would feel the same way if I ever had to leave Olympia. Come back soon!
