GAME DAY!

Have you ever seen the Disneyland commercial with the two little kids laying in their beds and giggling.  Their parents yell in for them to go to sleep to which they reply "we're too excited to sleep"?  Well imagine a grown man instead of the kids and you will see what it was like Saturday night for my husband.  Steve was so excited for game day to arrive that he didn't sleep much.  He tossed and turned, then finally got up to mess around on the computer since sleep was not being his friend.  The thrill of tailgating and the football game got us moving quite early on Sunday.  We were in line to pull into the parking lot by about 8:00am.  The gates wouldn't open until 8:30 but the cars were full of fans ready to cheer on their Chiefs!  Once inside the gate cars hurried to their parking spots and the grills and food were up and going.  We bundled up to walk around and check it all out.  You'll see in the picture of the tailgating the sky looks like there is a haze in the air, not so, that would be the smoke coming off of all the bbqs throughout the parking lot.  After walking a round for a bit I got a little cold and wanted to sit in the car for a few minutes to warm up.  I'm sure that many of you would have been back in that car with me since it was like 20* outside.  While I sat in the car, Steve started chatting with a couple of guys that were by us.  We had a Raiders fan who brought his Broncos fan son to the game.  They were quiet hilarious in trying to get me to wear a Raiders coat, but I wouldn't do it.  Steve got a good picture with these two funny fans then we headed over to the gates to go into the stadium.  If you all could have seen the excitement in my husband's eyes, it really was priceless.  He has been a Kansas City Chiefs fan for just about his whole life and this was his first chance to see his team play in their stadium.  We hung out for a while watching the players warm up and watching the fans fill into their seats.  Our seats were on the Chiefs sideline by the endzone 10 rows up.  We were right by the tunnel that the teams run out of, so there was tons of heckling going on when the Broncos entered the field.  We were hoping for a high scoring game, but we got a low scoring defensive battle on the field.  The Chiefs won 10 - 6 over their rivals the Broncos.  It was a great day and even better that I wasn't going to have to deal with a disappointed husband for the rest of our trip.
